Chiropractic

Defined as the art, science and philosophy of things natural, Chiropractic is a form of natural health care that is based on the concept that the central nervous system controls all other systems in the body and that interference with normal conduction of nerve impulses can negatively affect human health and well-being. Chiropractors perform manual adjustments to the spine, cranium and extremities to improve the flow of life force through the nervous system. Additionally, care is taken to advise patients on proper lifestyle choices, habits and behaviors including diet, nutrition, exercise, sleep habits and stress reduction. More information about this method of health care can be found at the website for Dr. Hambrick’s alma mater, Life University in Marietta, Georgia: www.life.edu and on the websites for the Florida Chiropractic Association: www.fcachiro.org and the American Chiropractic Association: www.acatoday.org

Scientific Nutrition and Lab Testing

We are very pleased to be working with a computerized analysis system for blood, hair and urine samples that gives us comprehensive and in-depth reports on nutritional needs for patients who are dealing with a variety of health conditions. While Applied Kinesiology and NutriSpec testing gives us quite a bit of patient specific information relative to diet and nutritional needs, we have found that there are many metabolic patterns that are not fully revealed by these methods of testing. As humans are exposed to more and more toxins and denatured foods, deeper metabolic imbalances begin to erode our health and well-being. These patterns are often revealed when we analyze blood and hair samples for deficiencies and toxicities. In conducting this form of testing, we are looking not just for the signs of disease, but for the more important indications of whether you are outside of functional, optimal ranges for the full expression of health. This allows us to intervene BEFORE something manifests in the form of the chronic diseases with which modern humankind often suffers such as heart disease, diabetes, inflammatory processes, arthritis and other degenerative conditions. We welcome your inquiries about this sophisticated method of health management.

Acupuncture

Incorporated into the practice of Chiropractic by many practitioners, Acupuncture is an ancient healing art based on concepts which are very similar to those underpinning Chiropractic. Traditional Chinese Medicine is founded on the principle that there are subtle energy waves that move through the body via channels that often run parallel to nerve and blood flow pathways. These subtle, electromagnetic waves influence the health and function of organs, systems, and structures through which they pass or after which they are named. Blockages in the normal flow of this electromagnetic energy result in well-defined symptom patterns which can be improved or eliminated by the introduction of tiny needles, heat, light or pressure into or onto specific points along the course of the channels through which the energy flows. This magnificent and elegant system of healing also incorporates recommendations for self-care, lifestyle changes, dietary and nutritional changes and emotional stress relief techniques. Loomis Enzyme Therapy

Enzymes are the ONLY chemical in the body that actually does metabolic work. Without enzymes, the vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, hormones and neurotransmitters in your body are unable to function. As time moves along (meaning as we age), the natural production of enzymes diminishes. Once again, life choices, diet, nutrition and genetics all influence the area in which the resultant imbalances will cause symptoms in each individual. In our digestive system, there are three primary types of enzymes, lipases, proteases and amylases which digest fats, proteins and starches, respectively. Some people will have a primary deficiency of proteases which means that they do not digest and absorb protein very well. This produces a very well-understood cascade of symptoms whereas someone who is deficient in amylases will have trouble absorbing carbohydrates which produces an entirely different set of symptoms. Simple in-office testing procedures and symptom surveys allow us to determine which enzymes are most likely to be deficient in each individual case and provide the necessary supplements and dietary recommendations. Neuro-Emotional Technique

Stress is the order of the day for most people living a modern life. It is well known that emotional, mental and psychological stresses have very specific effects on the physical body. The burgeoning field of psychoneuroimmunology has researched and documented many of the ways in which these effects influence health and well-being. Utilizing principles and techniques from Acupuncture, Chiropractic, and Applied Kinesiology, Dr. Scott Walker developed an elegant set of procedures that allows practitioners to identify the organs, structures and functions that are being negatively affected by distress. With this process, the stored memories of emotional, mental and psychological stressors can be “re-set” in such a way that they no longer trigger the same patterns of physical response that have produced symptoms and prevented recovery from those previous stresses. NET is a very powerful mind-body technique that is now utilized by Psychologists, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Dentists, Medical Doctors and many other licensed health care practitioners who are interested in comprehensive wellness care. More information can be found at the website of the NET organization that certified Dr. Hambrick: www.netmindbody.com

Applied Kinesiology

A system of diagnosis that developed within the Chiropractic profession, Applied Kinesiology (AK) utilizes manual muscle testing as an additional method of evaluating body function. In 1964, Dr. George Goodheart discovered that he could influence the strength of weak muscles by stimulating certain nerve receptors at the ends of the muscle. From that simple discovery, an entire method of diagnosis of functional disturbances has arisen and it allows those trained in its application to identify specific patterns of weakness associated with blockages in the Acupuncture system, the biochemical system, the emotional system and the structural system of the body. The correct intervention, correction or supplement for that specific individual is then identified based on muscle response testing. This method provides both the doctor and the patient with instant feedback on whether or not the intended therapy will result in improved function based on the patient’s response to the introduction of the treatment or therapy. More information about this method of diagnosis and treatment can be found at the website OF THE ORGANIZATION which certified Dr. Hambrick: www.icakusa.com

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Defined as “the study of the structure of subjective experience” NLP is a system that has investigated the most effective ways of communicating on an individual basis with people to identify what their most important goals and outcomes in life are and how best to facilitate their achievement. Each person has their own internal method of processing information and has developed effective coping mechanisms as well as self-defeating patterns of belief and behavior. Building on the monumental work of people like Virginia Satir, Milton Erickson, Gregory Bateson and others, NLP has developed techniques and interventions that help individuals better understand themselves and reach their goals. Dr. Hambrick uses these methods instinctively in each session and was trained as a Master Practitioner in NLP. More information can be found at the website of one of the organizations that trained him:  www.nlpco.com

Chiropractic Neurology

Dr. Hambrick continues to update his training and education with the Carrick Institute http://www.carrickinstitute.org/ which teaches the cutting edge application of Chiropractic techniques to conditions originating from imbalances in brain function. Professor Ted Carrick has revolutionized the study of diagnosis and rehabilitation of neurologic dysfunctions previously considered to be untreatable. He is famous for recovering patients from long-standing comatose conditions, rehabilitating stroke patients and restoring normal function to humans using the astonishing plasticity of the brain and central nervous system. Dr. Hambrick implements techniques from this training in helping patients with balance disorders, dizziness, vertigo, visual disturbances, auditory problems, sensory deficits, movement disorders and other neurologic imbalances.

Neurosage

Neurosage is a non-invasive computer software program that is designed to improve balance and coordination. It helps you to excel in physical abilities and performance, enhancing cognitive abilities, enabling expanded learning and minimizing learning disabilities. Neurosage helps you relax, promoting an internal ability to regulate pain while regulating physical and emotional stress.  This enables the body’s own ability to heal, and recover from traumatic physical and emotional injury. When our brain and body work together, we feel better, sleep better, and are more equipped to deal with the stressors of everyday life. Routine sessions with Neurosage will give you the opportunity to return to a happier and healthier life so you can enjoy what matters most. For more information please visit snabiotech.com

Biofield Tuning

Biofield Tuning is a sound healing modality that serves to calm the nervous system and release mental, emotional and physical stress, allowing us to feel more joy and freedom in our lives. This modality is a powerful method of resolving incoherent and chaotic vibrations in your “energetic” body and the field around your body. By restoring harmony in the frequency and vibration of the subtle energetic field, the underlying stress is diminished, allowing more coherence and harmony in your day to day life.

Light and Sound

Using Photosonix equipment to influence brainwaves into a more balanced and receptive state, you are treated to a guided imagery or deep meditative state that enhances your health and well-being. We have prepared several programs for various conditions and preferred outcomes such as Stop Smoking, Lose Weight, Healing the Inner Child, Sleep Well, Calm the Mind and others. The scripts for these guided imagery sessions are available for you to read prior to participating in your program so that you are comfortable with and agreeable to the impressions that are being presented in the session while you are receptive. This part of our Restorative Healing program is typically combined with sessions on the Biomat. We can also customize a program that incorporates these therapies with others on this list such as Acupuncture and PEMF therapy.

PEMF

This acronym stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields. Using a device that generates precise frequencies in the Electromagnetic spectrum to enhance healing and rejuvenation, this therapy has been thoroughly researched with over 10,000 Peer-Reviewed publications reporting on it and over 2,000 Double Blind studies having been performed. Bryant A. Meyers, in his book PEMF; The 5th Element of Health, calls PEMF devices a “whole body battery recharger”. Every cell in your body and every organ, just like the earth itself, emanates or generates a certain frequency or wavelength of electromagnetic energy. The PEMF device emits wavelengths that are specific for supporting your own body’s healing frequencies and stimulating the cells to harmonize with the appropriate frequency when they have gotten out of balance.

Acu-graph, Acupuncture and Electro-Acupuncture

The Acu-graph is a computerized instrument that allows us to measure the electromagnetic resistance at specific points, called Source Points, on each of your 12 paired acupuncture channels (also called meridians). The Source Point on each meridian is considered the most active point on that meridian. Using a gentle touch of probe that has a Q-tip inserted into its tip, we obtain a reading for the right and left Source Points on your wrists and ankles. The computer captures the reading of skin resistance at each point and generates a graph of the entire paired system (there are two mid-line single meridians that are not graphed) and where there are imbalances between meridians or from side to side. This information then is interpreted by the computer and by Dr. Hambrick to determine which points need to be treated with either Electro-Acupuncture or Acupuncture. We develop a program of treatment based on these and other findings. This treatment can be a stand-alone therapy or combined with the Bio-Mat, PEMF, Light and Sound and Guided Imagery/Meditation for a complete and thorough “remodeling” of your energetic systems.

Qi Gong

Pronounced Chee Gung or Chee Kung, this internal martial art is the foundation on which other forms of martial arts are built. It is an ancient Chinese practice of gentle movements, postures and breathing patterns that cultivate, generate and balance the life force (Qi) inside our body so that it is enhanced for the purposes of sustaining life, health, flexibility and longevity. Qi is Life Force and Gong means skill or accomplishment through steady practice. In our space next door, Unit 206, Master Shifu Orlando Schiaffino (Under the banner of Tan Tian Sadana Center) holds classes for beginners or entry level practitioners on Monday and Wednesday nights and an Instructor Program also runs on those nights after the beginner class. Periodic workshops conducted by Dr. Terry Hambrick and Master Shifu Orlando are scheduled to introduce different Qi Gong forms.
